Matt Lord is Senior Editor at Boston Review. A first-generation college student, he grew up in Georgia and studied literature, mathematics, and philosophy at MIT and Harvard.
Beyond his magazine editing, he has edited four books of nonfiction—most recently Thinking in a Pandemic: The Crisis of Science and Policy in the Age of COVID-19, copublished with Verso Books—and co-edited a chapbook of poetry. He has also worked as a researcher in biomedical engineering, molecular immunology, cognitive neuroscience, and natural language processing at the Harvard-MIT Division of Health Sciences and Technology, Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, the McGovern Institute for Brain Research, and MIT’s Computer Science and Artificial Intelligence Laboratory. At Boston Review he edits long-form essays, book reviews, and criticism across the sciences and humanities.
